Return to Play Protocols

Effective September 22nd, 2021, anyone who enters the Metcalfe Curling Club will be required to prove that they are fully vaccinated with two doses of an approved vaccine. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated will not be permitted entry unless they have a medical exception or are not eligible, as outlined by the Ministry of Health.

MANDATORY CONTACT TRACING

Please check-in at the entrance with the QR code or the club tablet.

MASKS

Masks are required when moving around the curling club. Masks are optional on the ice surface or when seated at a table in the lounge.

VACCINATION

Members must present their Provincial Passport or Vaccine Certificate with a QR Code and their photo ID to an executive member or delegate before their first game of the season.

GAMEPLAY

  1. Teams may follow regular curling rules, including two sweepers.

  2. Players need to remain physically distanced on the ice surface when the opposition is throwing.

  3. Teams should determine hammer and rock colour before entering the ice surface.

  4. Instead of the traditional handshake, give a tap of the broom to start the game.

  5. Measuring sticks and broom head brushes will be available – please sanitize your hands before and after use.

CHANGE ROOMS/BATHROOMS

  1. Curlers are encouraged to wear their curling attire to the club and change their footwear before their game.

  2. Change rooms will be available, but masks must remain on at all times.

  3. There are currently no capacity limits for change rooms or bathrooms; players are asked to use their discretion.

LOUNGE

  1. With the current Provincial regulations, an unlimited number of people can sit at one table; tables must be 2m apart.

  2. When not seated, please respect physical distancing and avoid congregating at the bar.

GENERAL CLEANING PROTOCOLS

  1. Tables should be cleaned between draws and high-touch surfaces, such as railings and door handles, before closing.

  2. Draw chairs should assign a team on the last draw of the day or night to clean high-touch surfaces.

  3. Detailed cleaning instructions are posted in the lounge.

  4. The ice team will be cleaning the rock handles between each draw.

EQUIPMENT

Curlers are encouraged to purchase their own equipment. If players are using club equipment, they will need to sanitize them before and after use.

SPECTATORS

Must be accompanied by a club member, provide proof of vaccination and comply with Club policies and Public Health Guidelines including contact tracing.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

  1. Clean and sanitize all surfaces prior to serving and when closing.

  2. Packaged condiments (creamers, sugar packages) should be used to minimize contact.

  3. Volunteers in the kitchen and behind the bar must wear a mask at all times.

The Metcalfe Curling Club will continue to follow all Public Health and Provincial requirements.
